Sir - It was with regret that I learned of British Airways' wish to cease flights between Newquay, Cornwall, and London Heathrow from 30 March, and fly Newquay-Gatwick instead.

Many business people who wish to travel on BA's long-haul flights to the Far East and the USA will now have to make a 2h road trek to Heathrow.

Why has BA never considered Northolt as an alternative commuter airport? While I appreciate that Northolt is RAF-controlled and open only Monday to Friday, surely if someone as big as BA were to invest in it, the Government might consider investing in its future, too.

It is close to Heathrow and London. BA could consider a bus link between Northolt and Heathrow. It is only 20min by car - surely better than Gatwick .
