WICAT SYSTEMS' training-device business is expanding, with a Virgin Atlantic Airways contract for an Airbus A340 systems trainer to be delivered later this year for use in engineering training.

The firm has also installed free-play trainers for the Airbus A320 and A330 flght-management and -guidance systems (FMGS) at China Southern Airlines and Thai Airways International, respectively. Airbus has installed FMGS trainers at its Toulouse, France, and Miami, Florida, training centres. Wicat is shipping the devices to Airbus operators.

Turkish Airlines, meanwhile, has ordered a free-play trainer for the Boeing 737 flight-management system (FMS). Italian flag carrier Alitalia has bought FMStrainers for the Boeing 767 and McDonnell Douglas MD-80.
