The US Federal Aviation Administration has turned down Wilcox Electric's protest over its award of the $475 million wide-area augmentation-system (WAAS) contract to Hughes Aircraft. The FAA's action was based on a recommendation of a judge with the General Services Administration Board of Contract Appeals. Wilcox Electric was fired as the original WAAS contractor and replaced by its subcontractor Hughes Aircraft. Wilcox protested in late May.
