Interdoc Aerospace has placed the launch order for the Windeagle Turboprop, a re-engined derivative of the four-seat Windecker Eagle developed by Windeagle Aircraft of Ontario, Canada.

The Midrand, South Africa-based company has ordered 15 aircraft, valued at around $9 million, with first deliveries expected by the end of the year. Windeagle was formed by Canadian Aerospace Group to manufacture the piston and turboprop-powered versions of the Windecker Eagle, the first all-composite aircraft to be assembled in its class.

The high-performance retractable single is offered with a 225kW (300hp) piston or a 335kW Pratt & Whitney PT6A turboprop. The Interdoc order brings Windeagle's total orderbook to 41 aircraft. The turboprop sale is a significant breakthrough for the company, which plans a series of upgrades to increase the aircraft's sales potential. These include cabin pressurisation, cabin enlargement and winglets.

Interdoc Aerospace, which operates a large aircraft sales and management site in Midrand, is also "expected to act as a support and maintenance centre for the Windeagle line of aircraft in the sub-Saharan marketplace", says the Canadian company.

Interdoc's airline division has also ordered five Twin Panda turboprops from Canadian Aerospace Group and will take delivery of these over the next 18 months.
