NASA has windtunnel tested a full-scale model of the second glider produced by the Wright brothers en route to their first successful manned powered flight. The 1901 glider was difficult to control and prompted the Wrights to build a small-scale windtunnel to evaluate aerofoil and wing models. The 6.7m (22ft)-span model was tested inNASA Langley's Full Scale Tunnel. as part of an effort to uncover and document how the Wrights mastered the principles of flight.
