What do a can of baked beans and a Nimrod maritime patrol aircraft have in common? The answer is Time 24, the largest aerospace-focussed wiring specialist in the UK (Hall 4, F19).

The same group involved in the mechanical assembly of a machine that measures the thickness of a can of baked beans also provides all the electrical wiring and cabling for the UK's Replacement Maritime Patrol Aircraft programme.

Upgrade

Contracted to Boeing and BAE Systems, the programme involves upgrading 21 Nimrod MR2 aircraft and equipping them with new mission equipment and engines. Time 24 has so far delivered three aircraft sets to BAE.

The group is also involved in the Eurofighter Typhoon and BAE Systems Harrier programmes.

"Time 24 has a wealth of experience in many industries and is able to bring the best practice from these varied areas into the military/aerospace sector to benefit our customers," says sales manager Chris Young. He believes big projects such as the Airbus A380 need big companies capable of delivering the service.

In November 2003, Time 24 acquired Kembrey Wiring Systems, creating the largest professional wiring and assembly house in the UK. The group now has more than 500 staff in three sites in the UK.

"Kembrey is well known in the industry, so our presence at Farnborough will also serve as a re-branding exercise," explains Young.
