Pratt & Whitney has assigned the overhaul of 25 JT9D engines for Boeing 747s to Volvo Aero because of high workload on PW4000 engines in the manufacturer's workshops. The work will be performed this year and next and is estimated to be worth around SKr500 million ($47 million) to Sweden's Volvo Aero. Air France Industries is to repair fan thrust-reversers on 44 CFM56s and 80 CF6-80s powering South Korean airline Asiana's fleet of Boeing 737s, 747s and 767s. LanChile has signed a 12-year agreement with Lufthansa Technik for its Total Component Support for its 27-strong Airbus A320 and A340 fleet. GE Engine Services (GEES), a unit of GE Aircraft Engines, has launched GE Rotable Solutions which will own and manage the maintenance, repair and overhaul of line replaceable units (LRUs) for CFM56, CF34, CF6 and GE90 engines. Meanwhile, GEES has signed a six year co-operation agreement with Air France to make the airline fully sufficient in maintaining and overhauling the GE90 engines which power its Boeing 777 fleet. Yemenia has contracted Sabena Technics to carry out a heavy maintenance "C9" check on an Airbus A310-300. The Belgian maintenance company has also renewed its contract with NATO for the continued maintenance and engineering support of NATO's 17 Boeing 707-based E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System aircraft and three 707 utility aircraft.
