GE Engine Services is to support American Trans Air's new fleet of 37 CFM International CFM56-7-powered Boeing 737-800s for 10 years, with a five-year extension option, under a maintenance cost per hour agreement valued at $650 million over 15 years. Abu Dhabi-based Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (GAMCO) has signed a maintenance contract with Sobelair to provide C checks and painting for its two Boeing 767-300ERs. Avteam's Medley, Florida, facility has received US certification for overhaul of the CFM56-3 engines. AAR has opened wheel and brake service centres at Dallas, Texas, and Miami, Florida, as part of a plan to locate overhaul facilities throughout the USA. British Airways and BAE Systems Aviation Services are establishing a joint sales and marketing team to offer total maintenance support services for Airbus A320 operators. BAE will provide airframe base maintenance capacity and other support services, while the UK airline will provide inventory support. Piedmont Hawthorne Aviation has received a five-year contract from Fokker Services to maintain Honeywell GTCP36-150R/RR auxiliary power units (APUs) in more than 65 Fokker 70s and 100s. The work will be performed at the company's newly relocated and expanded APU facility in Kernersville, North Carolina. Meanwhile, Continental Express has awarded Piedmont a maintenance contract covering at least six of its Embraer EMB-120 Brasilias. The arrangement began in mid-April and ends in July. Aerospatiale Matra subsidiary Sogerma has secured a five-year rotable support agreement with Air Macau covering maintenance, revision and repair of equipment for its A320/A321 fleet. Pratt & Whitney Canada is to provide engine maintenance and accessory coverage to American Eagle for its fleet of 97 installed and spare PW127/127Fs, and 70 PW120s, under a 12-year, $110 million fleet management programme.
