Pratt & Whitney Canada's service affiliate, P&WC CSC Europe, has signed a three-year contract with Wideroes Flyveselskap to overhaul PW121 and PW123 turboprops powering the Norwegian airline's fleet of 24 Bombardier Dash 8s. Continental Express has opened an Embraer ERJ-135/145 regional jet maintenance centre in Knoxville, Tennessee. Pemco Aviation Group is to double the size of its Dothan, Alabama maintenance and modification centre over the next five years. Augsburg Airways has agreed a three-year maintenance cost guarantee with Pratt & Whitney Canada covering PW123B/D engines powering the German airline's fleet of Bombardier Dash 8s. Under the agreement, the airline will pay its own maintenance expenses and at the end of three years total costs will be reconciled against engine hours. Pratt & Whitney Engines Services will provide off-wing overhaul and repair of PW4168A engines powering Air Afrique's two new Airbus A330-200s under a seven-year fleet management programme. Gulf Aircraft Maintenance recently carried out routine maintenance on an A300-600 operated by Sudan Airways. Pratt & Whitney and Tube Processing are forming a US joint venture, International Aerospace Tubes, to repair tubes, ducts and manifolds for all P&W engines, as well as the CFMI CFM56, General Electric CF6, IAEV2500 and Rolls-Royce RB211 and Tay. The new company will join with SIA Engineering to repair similar components in Singapore. As part of Air France's recent deal for 10 General Electric GE90-powered 777-300ERs, maintenance arm Air France Industries will offer maintenance services to other 777 operators. GE has also extended its co-operation with the airline for engine maintenance. TRW Aeronautical Systems has received a major contract from Saab to participate in its aircraft parts and exchange programme.
