++ British Airways Engineering has sold a major proportion of its surplus spares inventory to European Aviation for an undisclosed sum. All the types in the BA fleet, plus the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar, are covered in the deal. ++ Monarch Aircraft Engineering has agreed to carry out C checks for Canada 3000's fleet of Boeing 757s and Airbus A320s. ++ Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has completed the first conversion of a Boeing 747-200 combi into an all-passenger aircraft in 38 days, despite problems with slow parts deliveries. The work involved converting the main deck from the original half-passenger, half-freight configuration to an all-passenger cabin, which required "radical surgery", according to LHT. Lufthansa is also considering the conversion of its seven 747-400 combis to all-passenger. ++ Air France Industries has received contracts from Virgin Atlantic to carry out heavy maintenance on its fleet of eight Airbus A340-300s and from Air Toulouse International to provide support for the airline's six 737-200s. It has been selected by Royal Airlines to maintain its Airbus A310-300 fleet. ++ Airborne Express has signed an initial agreement with Delta Air Lines for it to provide maintenance and technical support from 1998 for the cargo carrier's new fleet of 12 ex-All Nippon Airways Boeing 767-200s. ++ United Airlines division UAL Services has signed a deal with Aeromexico and Aeroperu to repair and overhaul their Pratt & Whitney PW2000 engines over the next five years. ++ British Aerospace Aviation Services is to carry out heavy maintenance on Pan American World Airways' fleet of Airbus A300B4s over the next three years. The contract is worth about $60 million. ++ Anglo Normandy Aeroengineering has been approved as a US Federal Aviation Administration repair station. The UK Channel Island-based operation specialises in commuter and corporate-aircraft types.
