NASA has completed testing on the world's first lightweight, high-strength, graphite-epoxy composite cryogenic tank designed for flight. It will be installed aboard the McDonnell Douglas Delta Clipper Experimental Advanced (DC-XA) single-stage-to-orbit technology-demonstration vehicle, which will have its first test flight from White Sands, New Mexico, in about June. The tank will hold liquid hydrogen at a temperature of -423°F.
