World Airways is to phase out its unprofitable scheduled charter flights to Europe, which represent about 15% of its business, by the end of September, to concentrate on its wet-lease and US military charter businesses. World Airways is eliminating operations to nine European cities from six US cities. Unaffected are scheduled passenger services from New York to Tel Aviv and Johannesburg. Bookings on European charters have fallen "-well below our internal estimates".
