MSA Gallet (Hall 4, A2) is broadening its outlook since it was formed in the transatlantic union of two family-owned firms in 2002.

CGF Gallet, a French producer of pilots' helmets, joined forces with MSA in the USA, and between them they now produce some of the world's leading safety helmets for pilots, police, fire service and the military.

Xavier Soubeyrand, aeronautics product group manager, says MSA Gallet is pleased with the new partnership but proud that the French division, which was founded in 1860, has retained its independence.

"In the beginning we wondered how it would work but very quickly we saw that MSA would keep us going as we were before," he says.

The company has now become the world's leading provider of health and safety products and services and is working with giants such as Thales to produce a head mounted display for helicopter pilots.

MSA Gallet has seen its sales and profits grow significantly since the last airshow in Paris and has been transformed from a small firm in Lyon, employing 200 people, to a part of a global company with thousands of colleagues throughout the world.
