Russia’s RSK-MiG is to join in development of a light attack aircraft for the Russian air force based on the Yakovlev Yak-130 combat trainer, says Oleg Demchenko, Irkut president and director general of the Yakovlev design bureau. The new subsonic attack variant would be designed to carry a payload of up to 3t and be equipped with a multimode radar, short-range air-to-air missiles and unguided weapons.
