Russia's Energia says the Yamal 101 communications satellite, launched on a Proton K on 6 September, has failed to respond to commands. Controllers believe, however, that they can send signals to make it respond. The craft, which is spinning at 0.1-0.2¼/s, is receiving enough power to charge its batteries, despite its solar panels failing to deploy.
