The first launch of 12 Globalstar mobile communications satellites on a Zenit booster from Baikonur has been delayed by more than a month, to late August, because of the delayed launch of another Zenit carrying a Russian Resurs remote-sensing satellite and six international microsatellites, now scheduled for around July 8. The Zenit had to be removed from the launch pad for guidance system checks. Three Zenit and three Starsem Soyuz launches of Globalstars are planned.
