Air Canada chose Zip as the name for a discount carrier it plans to launch in the western provinces by the summer high season. Zip will begin with Boeing 737-200 flights between Calgary and Vancouver, replacing Air Canada mainline's existing flights in competition with rival WestJet on one of its most popular routes. It will start with six aircraft and reach 20 eventually.
