Light-aircraft developers Czech Aircraft Works (CZAW) and Zenair have terminated a long-standing licence agreement to produce and market the all-metal Zodiac CH601 and the short take-off and landing CH701 piston singles in the Czech Republic for the European market. From 1 January Canada-based Zenair will sell aircraft through a dealer network, with kits coming from Missouri-based sister company Zenith Aircraft and assembled aircraft directly from Zenair. CZAW will continue to support existing customers. Zenair founder and president Chris Heintz entered into the licence agreement with Stare Mesto-based CZAW in the early 1990s to produce and market the aircraft for Europe. The Czech-produced Zodiacs are modified and lightened to meet European rules for microlight aircraft, of which 750 have been produced by CZAW.
