Lightweight engine components are the focus of a four-year, SKr126 million ($18 million) joint research project between engine component manufacturer Volvo Aero and a Swedish government research agency.
Starting this year and ending in 2010, the project will aim to enhance Volvo Aero's materials technology to enable it to compete more effectively for international demonstrator projects and market share.
Volvo is investing SKr63 million and the Swedish governmental agency for innovation systems a further SKr63 million. The agency says its aim is to promote sustainable industrial growth in Sweden through research.
