The first outcome of the collaboration between 3M and Nordam originally announced at the Paris air show in June is being introduced at NBAA.
The companies today announced a complete, radio frequency identification (RFID)-based tool tracking solution, aimed at reducing cost, cycle time and defect rates in aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations.

3M Tool Track

The tool-tracking solution on show on booths 1481 and 5276 includes tracking software, RFID tags and readers to provide an integrated workflow solution.  The 3M solution is being installed at Nordam’s Tulsa, Oklahoma facility for tool tracking and helping improve the company’s productivity.
The companies are working together to identify and prioritize areas where 3M technologies could be used for the greatest improvements in manufacturing and MRO operations. The tool-tracking software application is produced by HighJump Software, 3M’s provider of supply chain and manufacturing management solutions.
“The aerospace industry is embracing RFID technology. It will bring much-needed efficiencies across a wide array of processes,” says 3M’s Sandra Tokach.
