Singapore-based A-Sonic Aerospace (formerly Janco Aviation) is planning to expand through acquisitions or joint ventures.

The move follows the aerospace components and systems supplier's initial public offering (IPO) last September, which raised net proceeds of S$13.8 million ($8.2 million).

A-Sonic is targeting manufacturers of aircraft parts, suppliers of aircraft systems and components, and maintenance, repair and overhaul companies, says chief executive Janet Tan.

The company specialises in upgrading aircraft electronic systems and components to improve operational efficiency, reduce operating costs and boost safety.

Retrofitted

Meanwhile, A-Sonic is in talks with an unidentified Asian airline on the purchase of three Boeing 737s. Tan says the aircraft would be retrofitted with equipment to enhance their capability, after which the 737s will be sold or leased.

Lease deals could include maintenance management contracts - an area which A-Sonic is keen to expand into due to the growing low-cost airline market in the region.
