Qantas is discussing a joint approach for A380 heavy maintenance with other early customers, including Air France, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines, and A380 suppliers, says David Cox, Qantas executive general manager engineering, technical operations and maintenance services. This approach was adopted with the the Boeing 747 when Qantas and United Airlines formed a support partnership, he adds.
