Oxford Aviation Academy is expanding its flightcrew training capabilities in Hong Kong by moving to its own dedicated training centre and increasing the number of full flight simulators and other facilities available to customers.

By the end of the first quarter of 2010, the academy intends to add a second Airbus A320 simulator that with an existing A320 simulator and an A330/A340 simulator will be installed in the new OAA Flight Training Centre. The Boeing Next Generation 737 simulator will remain in the nearby Cathay Pacific Airways training centre.

The academy will also introduce Airbus Pilot Transition (APT2) training courses in Hong Kong for the A320 family of aircraft using a new training centre that previously was used by Hong Kong Dragon Airlines. It is close to Hong Kong International airport and will be equipped with extensive classroom and computer-based training facilities.

The academy has been providing flightcrew training and simulator time in Hong Kong since 1998 through the Cathay Pacific flight-training centre. It is a Hong Kong Civil Aviation Authority and Chinese CAAC-approved type rating training organisation, providing instruction for A320, A330 and A340 and 737NG pilots.

The company has been expanding in the region through its acquisition of Ireland's Parc Aviation, which has sales offices in Tokyo and Beijing, and General Flying Services (GFS) in Australia, one of the region's leading ab initio flight training schools.

Parc has more than 300 pilots placed with airlines in the region and Melbourne-based GFS produces more than 300 pilots a year who are now flying for a number of airlines in Asia Pacific.

Captain Michael Fitz-Costa, OAA Hong Kong's general manager says: "We are responding to the needs of our growing customer base in this region and are focusing on delivering the highest quality of flightcrew training in an excellent learning environment, with the best standards of equipment and courseware and, increasingly, with instruction available in Chinese."
