UK-based aircraft remarketer Cabot Aviation is making a big push into Asia.

On the sidelines of Asian Aerospace, Cabot senior vice-president Vincent Lam says the company has opened its first office in Asia with a new base in Singapore.

Lam heads the Singapore office having joined Cabot from Standard Chartered Bank Singapore, where he was involved in the bank's aircraft financing business.

He says that despite the global economic downturn, some Asian carriers are still looking to buy aircraft - not necessarily household names, but newer and smaller carriers that want to take advantage of cheaper asset prices.

Aircraft on Cabot's remarketing list include six KLM Fokker 50s, while DVD Bank has asked it to remarket six Boeing 747-400Fs.
