The Namibian police force (NAMPOL) took delivery of a Eurocopter EC145 at the Africa Aerospace & Defence show, held near Pretoria in South Africa.

This is the third Eurocopter machine that Namibia has purchased. The country already operates two AS350B3 helicopters.

"NAMPOL's EC145 acquisition is part of an evolving modernisation programme which enabled NAMPOL to fulfil its duty," says Namibian police inspector-general Lt Gen Sebastian Ndeitunga.

The new aircraft should help to boost the southern African nation's law enforcement capabilities.

"In the future, if we need more machines, we might approach you," a Namibian official told Eurocopter during the delivery ceremony.
