Now would seem to be a good time to issue a warning to those giving serious consideration to undertaking professional flight training.

The demise of flight training providers occurs on a cyclical, if not regular, basis. It is clear that few of these failed businesses set out with the intention to obtain funds from students in an immoral way. However, they all achieve the same result - insolvency, followed by an administration order. Matters are then compounded once the administrators have taken their fees. Invariably, the unsecured creditors see zero return from their investment.

Be wary of certain players in the industry, particularly those of a larger nature offering larger incentives. Do not assume that the larger the operation the more secure your investment. Do not, under any circumstances, part with large sums of money up-front in return for promises of results six months down the line, even if it appears to be from the most reputable of organisations. Above all else, insist on an escrow account.
