Aeronautical Engineers (AEI) has landed a contract to modify into freighters two Bombardier CRJ200s for Mexican air cargo provider Aeronaves TSM, AEI announces.
The aircraft conversion company expects to begin work on the first aircraft in the second quarter and to deliver the CRJ200SF (special freighter) in mid-2017, AEI says.
Miami-based AEI will begin modifying the second CRJ200 in July, and plans to deliver that aircraft in October.
The company will perform the conversions at a facility in Dothan, Alabama operated by MRO company Commercial Jet, AEI says.
AEI completed the first flight of its passenger-to-freighter converted CRJ200SF in July 2016, and announced in October last year that the US Federal Aviation Administration had issued a supplemental type certificate for the aircraft.
AEI has already provided Aeronaves with three Boeing MD-80SFs and expects to deliver a fourth of that type to Aeronaves in the first quarter of this year, AEI says.
