Czech manufacturer Aero Vodochody's hopes of selling L-159 trainers, updated with Ukrainian engines and French avionics, to Venezuela have been thwarted by the Czech ministry of foreign affairs. The ministry, without explanation, has refused to approve the proposal, although the decision is thought to be because of US restrictions on arms sales to the Latin American country. Some L-159 parts are supplied by Boeing.
