Sacramento, California-based missile and space propulsion company, Aerojet, has completed qualification tests of its 4.5kW Hall effect thruster electric propulsion system at its test facility in Redmond, Washington state. Qualification involved a 5,600h life test.

The thruster will be used for both orbit transfer and on-orbit station-keeping. It is to be supplied to Lockheed Martin Space Strategic Missiles for the US Air Force’s new Advanced Extremely High-Frequency communication satellites.
