Aeromexico has taken delivery of its second Boeing 787-9 under a Japanese operating lease with call option financing structure.
SMBC and SMTB financed the aircraft (registration XA-ADC and MSN 43860) that the Mexico City-based carrier took on 6 December, Aeromexico chief financial officer Ricardo Sanchez Baker confirms.
The aircraft is the second of three 787s that Aeromexico will finance with JOLCOs. The first was delivered in October and financed by Nomura Babcock & Brown and SMBC.
FlightGlobal understands that the airline will take the third 787 early in 2017.
Aeromexico selected JOLCOs for the three aircraft because the structure was cost effective and allowed it to diversify its sources of funding, Sanchez said in October.
SkyWorks Capital arranged the transactions for Aeromexico.
