French airship developer Flying Whales has selected the Evolito D250 electric motor to power its LCA60T programme.
Flying Whales, which expects to fly the LCA60T in 2027, is Evolito’s first named production customer.
Capable of carrying loads of up to 60t, each 200m-long LCA60T will require 32 of the 240kW D250 motors.
Flying Whales says it selected the D250 due to its power and torque density and Evolito’s ability to scale production to meet forecast demand.
It plans three final assembly lines globally, each capable of building 12 aircraft per year.
