New carrier for Gabon
Gabon Airlines launched operations in April with a service from Libreville to Paris. The privately-owned start-up aims to fill the void left by Air Gabon, which was liquidated in March 2006. Routes to Dubai and several African destinations are planned.
New airport for Dakar
A consortium headed by Germany's Fraport has won a tender to manage a new airport in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. It will be operation by 2011.
Cameroon sell-off delayed
Plans to privatise Cameroon Airlines have been set back after the government opted to void last year's selection of SN Brussels Airlines and re-start the bid process. The move follows different views between the two parties on how it should develop.
