Swiss MRO provider SR Technics is to form a line maintenance joint venture with French carrier Aigle Azur.
The Zurich-based division of Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Aerospace MRO network says that it will establish a subsidiary, named SR Technics France, to provide "all line and light [base] maintenance activities" to the airline in France. But the services will also be available for third-party customers.
Operations are due to begin in July, with SR Technics as the majority shareholder and Aigle Azur having a "strong involvement" in the venture.
SR Technics says that the services will cover the airline's existing Airbus A320 fleet and planned A330 aircraft in future.
The operations will begin at Paris-Orly and are thereafter to be gradually expanded to other airports.
The next stations are to be located at Paris Charles de Gaulle, Marseille and, thereafter, Lyon.
SR Technics already has line maintenance stations at both main hubs in Paris.
Frederic Schnider has been named general manager of the new joint venture. Capabilities will include cabin and sheet-metal repairs, paint services, and engine and aircraft washing.
