Air China shareholders have approved the purchase of 20 more Airbus A330s as well as 15 Boeing 777-300ERs and 30 Boeing 737-800s, allowing deliveries to go ahead from 2011.
The Star Alliance carrier says in a stock exchange filing that shareholders overwhelmingly approved the aircraft purchases at an extraordinary general meeting yesterday.
Deliveries of the A330s are due to take place between early 2011 and 2014 while deliveries of the 777s and 737s are due to take place between early 2011 and 2015.
Air China announced plans for the follow-on A330 order in June and the following month announced plans for the 777 and 737 orders.
No mention is made of an engine selection for the A330s. Its existing A330s are powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 700s.
The 777-300ER is exclusively powered by the GE90 engine while the CFM International CFM56 is the sole powerplant for the 737-800.
