Air New Zealand has, as expected, confirmed Rolls-Royce as the engine supplier for its entire Boeing 787-9 fleet.
The carrier converted its original 787 order for four -8s to the larger -9 variant in 2006, and subsequently doubled the commitment to eight aircraft.
While it had stayed with Rolls-Royce's Trent 1000 for the first four aircraft, it had not selected an engine for the additional four.
But Rolls-Royce confirms today that all eight 787-9 aircraft will be Trent-powered, and this agreement extends to eight optioned 787s.
The contract also includes long-term support for the powerplants.
Air New Zealand already has Trent 800-powered Boeing 777s and two of its Boeing 747-400s have Rolls-Royce RB211 engines.
