Air Pacific has selected the Airbus A330-300 to meet its mid-size aircraft requirement and plans to sign a firm commitment for two of the widebody twinjets and take options on two more. This is part of a plan approved at a 20 December meeting of the Fijian carrier's board.

The first phase of the fleet upgrade will see Air Pacific receive two used Boeing 747-400s on lease from Singapore Airlines (SIA), which will replace its leased 747-200 and be used to move to daily services between Nadi and Sydney from April. Los Angeles frequencies will increase to four-times-weekly in June.

The two firm A330s will be delivered in mid-2005 and 2007 respectively while the options are due in 2009 and 2011.
