Asian Aerospace 2000 is the setting for a special four-day conference on air safety.

Held in association with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the 36th (Special) Directors-General Conference (Asia and Pacific Regions) marks the start of the new millennium and the increasing use of new technology within the industry.

Implementation

"Civil Aviation Safety in the New Millennium" focuses on developments in the use of satellite-based technology for aircraft navigation and surveillance.

Rapid implementation of full CNS/ATM (Communications Navigation Surveillance/Air Traffic Management) is important to enhance airspace capacity and aviation safety in the region.

The conference also addresses other ICAO initiatives, including safety audits. Conference delegates will visit CAAS facilities including the Singapore Air Traffic Control Centre and the Singapore Aviation Academy.

Presentations

Speakers include representatives from ICAO, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Federation of Airline Pilots Association (IFALPA).

Presentations are also being made by representatives from ICAO members states in the Asia-Pacific region.
