Airbus Industrie has confirmed that Singapore Airlines (SIA) is in talks on an initial A3XX purchase of up to 16 aircraft.

"The airline is in discussions for the initial purchase of aircraft, including 10 firm orders and six options, for delivery from 2005," says Airbus. The announcement comes after it was revealed exclusively by Flight International last week that SIA has signed a letter expressing interest in ordering the aircraft as a result of Airbus efforts to garner formal airline support for the programme before a board meeting on 26 May.
