Airbus Group is referring to the UK decision to leave the European Union as a “wake-up call”, but has yet to assess the competitive impact of the result.
The airframer had strongly backed the UK’s membership of the EU ahead of the 23 June referendum.
Airbus Group’s senior management states that it is “disappointed” by the decision, but says the result must be respected.
It adds that the decision “should be seen as a wake-up call for Europe and as a catalyst for change”.
“We will work constructively with the UK government to minimise any impact on our operations,” it says.
“Clearly we will continue to support our workforce and operate our UK facilities. We will study the longer-term consequences of this decision on the competitive environment.”
The airframer's operations in the UK include the Broughton plant which builds wings for its aircraft range.
Airbus has previously warned that a UK exit from the EU would present long-term economic risks, and that Airbus would be forced to reconsider investment in the UK if economic conditions suffered as a result.
