In-flight connectivity service provider Aircell has appointed Norman Smagley as chief financial officer, effective 7 September.
Smagley replaces Reid Simpson, who left the Chicago-headquartered firm in May to take up a senior level position at Asset Acceptance Capital.
Aircell says Smagley brings 16 years of broad-based CFO experience across many industries, including technology, financial services, pharmaceutical, retail, industrial and publishing companies, ranging in size from Fortune 25 to pre-IPO.
Most recently, he worked at Rand McNally as senior vice-president and CFO.
"Norm [Smagley] will consistently challenge and bring forth new ideas and recommendations as we enter the exciting next phase in our growth as a company," says Aircell president and CEO Michael Small in a statement.
Aircell has previously told ATI and Flightglobal that it is confident an initial public offering (IPO) of shares is in its future.
