China Aviation Supplies Import and Export Corporation (CASC) has ordered 20 Airbus A321s and 10 A320s, with deliveries between 1998 and 2000. Sichuan Airlines has confirmed it will take two of the A320s. SilkAir has ordered five A320s and three A319s, with options on 10 more Airbus aircraft, with deliveries starting in September 1998. Thai Airways International has ordered five A300-600Rs and four A330-300s, with deliveries starting in 1998.

Aeroflot has ordered 10 Boeing 737-400s, for delivery between April 1998 and February 1999.

China Xinjiang Airlines and CASC have ordered five ATR72-210As, plus five options. Iberia subsidiary Binter Canarias has ordered three ATR72-200s. CityFlyer Express has ordered one ATR72-200 and one RJ100. African carrier Transportes Aereos de Cabo Verde has ordered an ATR42-300.

Varig subsidiary Rio-Sul has ordered 10 Embraer 145s, with five options and seven EMB.120 Brasilias.

South African Express has ordered six Canadair Regional Jets, with deliveries between August 1997 and May 1998.

Transportes Aéreos Regulares of Brazil has ordered two de Havilland Dash 8Q-200s.

Corporate Express of Nashville is to lease four more Jetstream 32s, bringing its fleet to 10 aircraft.
