EVA Air, Taiwan's major independent airline, has signed a letter of intent to buy six new MD-90s, with an option for a further six.

Tyrolean Airways of Austria has ordered four Canadair Regional Jets with an option on four more.

British Airways Express operator CityFlyer Express has ordered two new ATR72-200s.

Lufthansa is to purchase four B747-400s, one A340, five Avro RJ85s and seven Canadair Regional Jets.

Vietnam Airlines has ordered two Fokker 70s as a first step in replacing its 12 Tu-134s. Meanwhile, British Midland has placed an order for two additional Fokker 70s, while Ethiopian Airlines has ordered five Fokker 50s.

Crossair has ordered five more Saab 2000s.

Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise has purchased three B767-300ERs for wet-lease on to Alitalia, of which is one is already operating. The other two will join the carrier in November and February.

Luxair has taken two B737-500s on lease from Itochu Air Lease Company of Japan.

Gemini, a new air freight leasing and management company, has acquired the purchase rights to six DC-10-30s from Potomac Financial Group.
