Air Tahiti has placed an order for four ATR 72-600s, adding to its existing fleet of ATR turboprops.
The deal, announced at the Farnborough air show on 24 July, also covers a long-term maintenance agreement renewal. Air Tahiti expects to take delivery of the new aircraft between 2025 and 2028.
The airline operates a fleet of 11 ATRs, comprising nine ATR 72-600s and a pair of ATR 42-600s.
“The introduction of these new aircraft will enable Air Tahiti to address both flight frequency and capacity, further enhancing its service offering and passenger experience,” states ATR.
Under the maintenance agreement, which has been extended for eight more years, ATR will provide repair, overhaul and pooling services of Line Replaceable Units.
The Air Tahiti order is the Franco-Italian airframer’s first commitment announced at the show. On 23 July, it signed an agreement with Ethiopian Airlines’ MRO unit to build up maintenance capability in Africa and the Middle East
