Data from the seventh annual Airport IT Trends Survey, released today at the ACI World general assembly in Bermuda, reveals that IT&T expenditure for airports rose to 3.4% in 2009 up from 2.7% in the previous year.

The survey, jointly produced by ACI World, Airline Business and SITA, also shows that reducing the cost of business operations is the top driver of investment in technology. Such investments include e-gates, passenger monitoring solutions and use of wireless devices to enable staff to work remotely. Today 60% of airports have already implemented kiosk check-in and another 26% are planning to do so by 2013.
