Delta Air Lines has submitted plans for a $1.6 billion terminal expansion at New York's Kennedy airport, to be completed in 2004. The Port Authority is reviewing the proposal, which involves moving a substantial part of Delta's operations to an enlarged Terminal 4, expanding Terminal 2 to accommodate Delta's regional jet activity and demolishing Terminal 3. Genoa airport in Italy is to undergo a L27 billion ($11.8 million) upgrade which will see the usable runway length extended by 500m (1,600ft) by moving navigation and landing aids and through the introduction of a steeper approach profile. Some obstacles in a nearby industrial plant are also to be removed. In addition, the airport will receive a new windshear monitoring and alert system, and the ramp, taxiways and runway are to be repaved. The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development has agreed to lend c9.4m ($8 million) to build a new cargo terminal at St Petersburg's Pulkovo airport.
