UK-based spare-parts specialist AJ Walter Aviation has teamed up with China Aircraft Services to set up a materials pool in Hong Kong.
CASL will provide warehouse space and handle logistics. The partners are jointly targeting operators of Airbus and Boeing aircraft in Hong Kong, says AJW, which has an office in Singapore.
The first customer for the joint business is Mongolian carrier Hunnu Air, an existing maintenance client of CASL and scheduled operator at Hong Kong International airport.
Based in Ulan Bataar, the airline operates two Airbus A319s and three Fokker 50 turboprops, Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database shows. But AJW says the carrier is planning to introduce A330s in 2015.
Earlier this year, Hunnu Air started A319 flights to Paris via Ekaterinburg in Russia.
“Hong Kong has always been at the heart of aviation and trade in the region, and we greatly appreciate CASL’s deep business relationships with local and global carriers upon whom the joint new logistical and spares facility is focused,” says AJW chief technical officer Deepak Sharma.
