Alaska Airlines says it will be rid of its MD-80 fleet by the end of 2008. As it becomes an all-Boeing operator with 114 Boeing 737s, of which 74 will be next-generation models, it will cut unit costs by as much as 5¢ and cut trip costs by up to 26%, said Alaska.
