Alenia Aeronautica has dispatched a team of 15 people to Fairchild Dornier's Oberpfaffenhofen plant in southern Germany to examine technical and commercial issues surrounding the 728/928 regional jet programme, as the Italian company considers acquiring the project. Alenia is also believed to be interested in Fairchild Dornier's other commercial activities, including maintenance, support and its composite structures production business for Airbus. A decision is expected within weeks.
