An Algerian air force Lockheed Martin C-130 tactical transport has crashed in northeast Algeria with the loss of all 103 people on board, according to an on-site reporter from Agence France-Presse, quoting local officials.

The aircraft was reportedly carrying soldiers and their families. With 103 on board, it would have been full.

Carrying out a regular flight to Constantine from Ouargla, the aircraft was in radio contact with the airport and was conducting a letdown for runway 34 when it came down in high terrain. The region at the time was affected by falling snow and poor visibility.

Images of the crash scene identify the destroyed aircraft as having carried the registration 7T-WHM. A stretched-fuselage C-130H-30 delivered in 1982, this was one of 16 H-model Hercules in the Algerian air force fleet before the accident, says Flightglobal's Ascend Online database.
