Boeing 787 Dreamliner launch operator All Nippon Airways (ANA) has started the aircraft's service ready operational validation (SROV) today.
The week-long SROV, performed by test aircraft ZA002, will be conducted between Tokyo Haneda airport and the airports for Osaka, Okayama and Hiroshima, said the Star Alliance carrier.
Shinichiro Ito, the carrier's President and CEO, confirmed that the aircraft's first commercial flight will either on the Haneda-Okayama or Haneda-Hiroshima routes.
ZA002 departed Seattle yesterday at 05:00, and arrived at Tokyo Haneda at 06:21 today.
On 5 July, it will operate a return flight between Tokyo Haneda and Osaka Itami airport. This will be followed by a return flight between Tokyo Haneda and Osaka Kansai airport on 6 July. Finally, on 7 July, it will operate two return flights between Tokyo Haneda and Okayama and between Tokyo Haneda and Hiroshima.
ZA002 will return to Seattle on 9 July. The carrier, which has 55 787s on order, expects to receive its first 787 in August or September, after first delivery was delayed several times.
